Daniel Edgar has been fishing alligators in the Louisiana swamps for over thrity years. Now with his son and grandson, Dorien, the Edgar family is continuing the long held traditions in the alligator fishing industry in Louisiana. Alligators are a managed resource in Louisiana, with fishermen getting tags from landowners and their own parcels, then catching the alligators during the September to October season. During the off-season, alligator eggs are gathered, marked for proper incubation, and then delivered to alligator farms. These farms raise the hatchlings, and are required by Louisiana regulation to return 14% of the alligators to their natural swamp habitat. This ensures there are sufficient alligators to match up with the tags issued every year by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

We treat our alligator fishing and hunting with this managed resource approach, ensuring a sustainable agricultural resource that Louisiana is proud to offer. The Edgar family is featured on Season 7 of "Swamp People", demonstrating the true nature of Cajun culture with helping your fellow "Swamper".
